Liverpool vs Arsenal: TV channel, live stream.

Liverpool and Arsenal met at Anfield last December, and the Reds showed just how big the gap is between the two sides. Arsenal’s only positive takeaway from the match was an opening goal from Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the 11th minute. From there, Liverpool put the boots to the Gunners, scoring five unanswered goals en route to a 5-1 demolition. Although that match was more than seven months ago, it will be fresh in the mind of the Arsenal faithful.

Since that victory, Liverpool went on to end that season with a Champions League title and second-place Premier League finish with a whopping 97 points. This season, Jürgen Klopp’s men have picked up right where they left off, beating Norwich City 4-1 and Southampton 2-1 to open their Premier League campaign. Arsenal could stand as their first real challenge this season.

Liverpool made no major changes during the transfer window. It’s essentially the same team that fell just short of the Premier League title last season that will be trying to get over that hump this season. The attack is led by Mo Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino, while the defense is anchored by Virgil van Dijk and keeper Alisson, with plenty of talented players strewn in between. Despite a lack of turnover this summer—or, perhaps, because of it—the Reds enter the match heavy favorites to defeat the Gunners.

But while Liverpool had the full squad it wanted, Arsenal spent the summer rebuilding. The Gunners have a reinvigorated sense of spirit since adding Dani Ceballos, David Luiz, Kieran Tierney and Nicolas Pépé to the team. Those players are still getting settled into the team but have shown incredibly promise so far in limited action.

Along with Liverpool, Arsenal is the only team in the Premier League to hold a full six points after two matches played. The Gunners secured an away clean sheet—something it managed only once in 37 Premier League games last season—in the opener against Newcastle and followed that up with a 2-1 win over Burnley at the Emirates. Arsenal is still far from a finished product, but it already looks improved over last season.

Both teams will likely enter the match without some key players, chief among them Liverpool’s Alisson, who left the opener against Norwich with an injury. Midfielder Naby Keita is also set to miss the match for the Reds, however, Dejan Lovren could return in defense. For Arsenal, Mesut Özil missed the first two games through a combination of security concerns and illness. He’s been back in full training this week, but it’s still unknown whether he’ll play at Anfield. Granit Xhaka could also play after not featuring in the squad against Burnley. Arsenal is also dealing with long-term injuries to defenders Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Tierney, who aren’t expected to return until after the September international break.
